Reading

WALT: ask questions as we read to make sure we understand what we read.

• I learned to: ask questions and use the text to answer them.
• Most challenging was: figure out answers to some of the questions.
• Next step is to: think of using skinny and fat questions.

Bridget, you are using questioning to help you understand you reading better. You are able to ask thick and thin questions before you read and then use your text to answer them.
Remember, if you are unsure of the answer to your questions, go back to the text to check. Your next step is to keep on asking questions as you read. This will help you dig deeper into the text and to clarify  your thinking and understanding.

Sharing our Stories

We have been creating a variety of art pieces this term. These pieces are all about ourselves and sharing our stories. We have used different media like collage, watercolour, crayon and clay to create our art. We are beginning to make choices as artists. Each piece of art shares a little about us.

	I Think	My Buddy Thinks
my message is clear	I think that my message is clear because I always check that it makes sense.	I think that Bridgets message is clear.
my art represents me	My art represents if I know what it’s about.	I think that Bridgets art represents her.
I have tried different media	Yes and it’s helped me in the past.	Yes Bridget did try different things.
I choose media to create the effect I wanted	When I get to choose before I get the stuff for the art I alway plan what I need, shapes and how it’s going to look.	She did get the effect she wanted.
my favourite media is… because	well it depends of what art I’m doing.

Values are deeply held beliefs about what is important or desirable. They are expressed through the ways in which we think and act. In fact everything we do reflects our values!

Task:         Create a poster showing kotahitanga

Success Criteria:

• Include a clear Image
• Include our name and our buddies name
• Show and explain kotahitanga (working together)
• Our poster makes sense

How am I going showing?	I think	My buddy thinks
Friendship	I think I am good but I can be more better	I think bridget is good at friendship because she is nice to all her friends.
Sharing	It's very good	bridget is good at sharing because she lets people use her things that she is using.
Teamwork	sometimes I am helping other people but I to work to be more better	somtimes she is good at teamwork.
Looking out for each other	it's kind of afrege at there and to almost there	she can be more better at what she says

Bridget, I think you are a very, very nice person already (Black Hat Thinking) who feels things very deeply. You look out for your friends, classmates and you are a fabulous big buddy. I love to see the way you work with Chelsea during buddy time, you are supportive and kind and you gently guide her in her learning.

I follow my plan	I follow my plan so I can keep to where I am at the time it is.	Bridget follows her plan as it says.
I use my learning time wisely	I use my time wisely and sometimes I help others when they need it.	Bridget uses her time very wisely.

Bridget, you successfully plan your learning time using the must dos and can dos and you usually follow your plan.
