Busy listening

Desciption: In Poutama recently we have been looking at different ways of listening and our task was to make a video of showing what one of the ways of listening. In this video we are showing Busy listening.

This is our video hope you like it:

Big Idea: There were a few different kinds of listening. There is "Busy Listening" which is when someone is doing something and they pay NO attention to you. Then there is "Me To Listening" and thats when someone listens to a bit of your story and interrupts to say something else. And The last kind of listening is "Active Listening" Active listening is when the person pays fully attention to you and may ask some questions at the end and NO INTERRUPTIONS!

Feedback: I think that your video is clear and that one is taking and one is not listening. Katie

Feedforward: I think that your video could be a bit louder. Katie

Evaluation: I think that it was better that I said what kind of listener Caitlin was being in the video at the end but we should have spoken louder so you can here us. If I were to do this again I would get the group to speak louder.

I think that I listen 50% of everything, it just depends on what mood i'm in.

treaty of Waitangi Roleplay

Description: On the day that we started it was close to Waitangi day. We started with some research about Waitangi day. Then we got the second task and that was to make something to show what we learnt. We got many choices to choose from but i'm not going to say all of them but Katie, Hannah P and I got into a group and all together decided to make a roleplay video.

Big Idea: Waitangi day was around the corner when we started this project so hope you liked the.

Feedback: I think that was really good that you have a clear voice. Phoebe

Feedforward: Next time you could maybe dress up into a clothes that fit into the theme of the video. Phoebe

Evaluation: I think that I enjoyed being a loud character but I didn't show up that much in the video and If I where to do this again I wouldn't get go in a group especially when the other students are in different Whanau classes.

Sparkle Nalla and Peanut789 anime

After creating Sparkle Nallas portrait for my think book I decided to create two anime friends together and they are Sparkle Nalla (Me) and Peanut789 (Katie O). I wanted to do this for Katie and I because we have only got 1 more year together at school until we move to different intermediates :(. So I made this drawing to cherish each others friendship.

Treaty of Waitangi

This weekend it's Waitangi day so here are some questions I want to ask:

• Why do we celebrate this day in NZ?

A.  Because it's where it happened.

• Why did the english want to buy all of the land?

A. Because The european wanted to have the people know that it was theirs

• What does Waitangi mean?

A. ????

• Why is the day on a weekend?

A. So the people who work on the weekends they have a day off

• How do we celebrate this day?

A. Any way.

• Why were only particular people allowed to sign the Treaty?

A. Only the main people of the land got to sign the Treaty.

For 2016 in Poutama we need new think books to use throughout the year. Instead of last year we designed our own think book cover. The criteria for this design are to have:

• CLEAR NAME
• tell a story about you
• include a drawing that you have done
• have ‘Think Book’ clearly written on the front
• fill the page
• include a quote that is meaningful to you
• include something you like to do in your spare time
• have pictures no bigger than the size of your palm 

I've done my design but the part that the criteria said 'include a drawing that you have done' and this is why i posted this post to present my art work.

My 2016 word

Description: It's a new fresh year here at Russell Street School. We started thinking about goals thing year so we set a challenge for us, we decided to think of one word to describe what our goal for 2016 is. On the next day we made a criteria for our word. this is the list of them:

• What needs to be in our post?
• Title
• WALT set goal.
• Screen shot of the criteria.
• Description: Explain what one word is. Explain your word, why you chose it how it is going to help you.

I decided that my word for 2016 would be friendship.

So why did I pick this word?

I picked this word because my last years report said that I need to work on my relationships with other students.

Description:  We have been learning about transformation.  We have specifically learnt that...
translation is when an object slides in any direction;rotation is when an object is turned around a central point;reflection is when an object is flipped and has a line of symmetry.
Our challenge was to design a car badge that contained at least one of these aspects of transformation.    This is my car badge that I have completed

Symmetry =2

Older =1

If I were to do it again then I would take more time to measure the out line.

Evaluation: I thought that measuring was the hardest and I thought the easy part was making the border. I want to learn how to find an easier way to get it perfect.

Feed back: I like the way you put the arrows for the way of the symmetry. 

Feed for word: Maybe next time you can do some lines and not arrows.

My first time fishing

Purpose: To share memories about my childhood.

Description: This is a short story of my first time fishing.

Remember smelling the fresh air and smelling the fish in the sea.

Remember getting the fishing rods ready with the different shaped bate then taking the Heavy fishing rods.

Remember catching a small fish that even Gordon could carry it.

Remember Gordon catching some fish but as he cort them one by one they keeper on getting away.

Remember Gordon getting so angry at the fish that he gave up.

Remember eating the small yummy fish.

That was my first time fishing.
